Common Questions
Frequently asked questions about Alethia
General
What platforms does Alethia support?
Alethia is available for, and will only be available for iOS. iPadOS will be supported in the future although as it stands, as the sole developer who only uses iPhone, iPad (as well as landscape orientations and features like double-paged readers) have not been a priority.
Content
Where does the content come from?
Alethia doesn't host any content. It connects to external sources that enable reading content. You add hosts that contain sources, and those sources fetch content from their respective services and are designed primarily for reading.
Can I request new sources?
Hosts and sources are not developed by Alethia and will never be part of a 'recommended' list. You can search on Google, GitHub. or other places to find these sources but Alethia will never curate or recommend any.
Data & Privacy
Is my reading data stored anywhere?
Your library, reading progress, and preferences are stored locally on your device. If you connect external trackers (like AniList or MyAnimeList), your progress syncs to those services. The only other form of data being possibly preserved is between your device and the host services you connect to, which is identical to existing extension-based readers.
Can I migrate my data from another app?
Yes, migration is available as an online service. You can export your library and reading progress from supported apps and import them into Alethia. Visit the migration tool for detailed instructions.
Can I sync between devices?
Not currently. Device sync is a potential future feature but is not a priority at this time. All data is stored locally on your device. If sync is implemented in the future, it would likely use iCloud to ensure your data remains private and never touches Alethia's servers.
